In a setback for the Green Bay offense, wide receiver Christian Watson is expected to miss the team’s upcoming game against the Los Angeles Rams due to an ankle injury sustained in Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Watson, a key contributor to the Packers’ receiving corps, was hurt in the second quarter when his leg got caught underneath him on a play. Coach Matt LaFleur indicated that Watson will likely be sidelined for at least a week, and possibly longer if he is placed on injured reserve.
The Packers have struggled to find consistency in their passing game, with Watson’s five catches for 80 yards and one touchdown through four games a testament to the team’s overall struggles. Quarterback Jordan Love, who returned to action on Sunday after missing two games with a knee injury, threw for 389 yards with four touchdowns but also had three interceptions.
Love’s accuracy was affected by his knee issue, which limited his ability to step into throws. Coach LaFleur acknowledged that Love’s rustiness was a factor, saying that it takes time to regain rhythm after a layoff. The coach did not provide details on Love’s practice schedule for the week ahead.
