Major League Baseball Announces Umpire Crews for Division Series
The stage is set for the American League Division Series, and Major League Baseball has revealed the umpire crews that will be calling the shots. Starting Saturday, four experienced crew chiefs will take the helm, each leading a team of seasoned officials.
In the New York Yankees’ series against the Kansas City Royals, Mark Carlson will be the crew chief, working alongside Adam Hamari behind the plate, Ryan Blakney at first base, Lance Barrett at second, Lance Barksdale in left field, and Roberto Ortiz in right.
Meanwhile, Todd Tichenor will lead the crew for the Cleveland Guardians’ series against the Detroit Tigers. His team includes Adam Beck behind the plate, Ramon De Jesus at first, Jim Wolf at second, Chad Fairchild in left, and Nick Mahrley in right. Notably, Mahrley will be making his postseason on-field debut, having previously worked as a replay umpire.
Dan Bellino will be the crew chief for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ series against the San Diego Padres, joined by Mark Ripperger behind the plate, John Libka at first, Cory Blaser at second, Tripp Gibson in left, and Adrian Johnson in right.
Rounding out the crews, James Hoye will lead the team for the Philadelphia Phillies’ series against the New York Mets, with Andy Fletcher behind the plate, Edwin Moscoso at first, Doug Eddings at second, Carlos Torres in left, and Rob Drake in right.
In addition to the on-field crews, Chris Conroy, Chris Guccione, John Tumpane, and Chad Whitson will serve as video review umpires at MLB’s office in New York, providing support and guidance throughout the series.
