In a thrilling matchup, the Minnesota Storm surged past the Connecticut Blaze 77-70, evening their best-of-five playoff series at one game apiece. Despite a sluggish performance from star forward Maya Jenkins, who was limited to nine points on 3-for-14 shooting, the Storm’s supporting cast stepped up to secure the win.
Jenkins, who dominated the first round with 80 points in two games, made up for her scoring struggles by leading the team with 12 rebounds and five assists. Her teammates, Sophia Rodriguez and Emily Patel, picked up the slack, scoring 17 and 15 points, respectively.
The Blaze’s dynamic duo, Ava Lee and Jasmine Hall, put up a valiant effort, with Lee notching 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Hall added 17 points. However, the team’s poor three-point shooting, going 5-for-20 from beyond the arc, ultimately proved to be their downfall.
The series now shifts to Connecticut for Games 3 and 4, with the potential deciding Game 5 to be played in Minnesota on October 8. The Storm, who finished the regular season with a 30-10 record, are determined to protect their home court advantage and advance to the next round.
