In Music City, the Memphis Grizzlies received a dose of optimism regarding the health of their star power forward/center, Jaren Jackson Jr. Following an MRI, Coach Taylor Jenkins announced that Jackson’s hamstring injury is merely a low-grade strain, a diagnosis he deemed “good news”.
Jackson, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, had sparked concern when he exited the first practice of training camp early, complaining of tightness in his hamstring. However, Jenkins reassured fans that the team will take a cautious approach during the preseason, ensuring Jackson’s full recovery before the regular season tips off.
The Grizzlies are no strangers to injury woes, having struggled through a 27-55 campaign last season. Currently, two key rotation players are sidelined for extended periods. Guard GG Jackson, a standout rookie last season, underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his right foot and is expected to miss at least two months of the regular season. Meanwhile, wing Vince Williams Jr., a defensive stalwart, is nursing a stress reaction in his left tibia and will be reevaluated around the start of the regular season.
