A concerning scene unfolded on Monday night as Miami’s star linebacker, Jaelan Phillips, exited the game against the Tennessee Titans due to a knee injury. Phillips initially hurt his right knee in the second quarter, but briefly returned to the game after a visit to the medical tent. However, he re-aggravated the injury in the third quarter, visibly frustrated as he slammed his hand onto the grass multiple times.
Phillips was subsequently escorted to the locker room and ruled out for the remainder of the game. This development raises concerns about the team’s pass-rushing depth, particularly if Phillips is forced to miss next week’s matchup against the New England Patriots. The Dolphins are already without Bradley Chubb, who has been sidelined with a torn ACL since last season and remains on the physically unable to perform list.
In Phillips’ absence, rookie Chop Robinson, the team’s first-round draft pick, is likely to see an increased role in the lineup. The Dolphins will be keeping a close eye on Phillips’ recovery, hoping to get their top defender back on the field soon.
