Former Soccer Star Faces Six-Month Ban from National Team Games
In a recent decision, the governing body of international soccer has handed down a six-month ban to a prominent figure in the sport. The individual, who has been leading the football federation of their native country since 2021, was found guilty of violating disciplinary rules during an Under-20 Women’s World Cup match in Colombia earlier this month.
The incident in question occurred on September 11, during a round-of-16 game between Brazil and Cameroon, which Brazil won 3-1 in extra time. Although details of the incident were not disclosed, the governing body stated that the individual’s behavior was deemed offensive and violated the principles of fair play.
As a result, the 43-year-old former soccer star, who had a storied career playing for their national team and winning numerous titles with top-tier clubs, will be prohibited from attending any men’s and women’s matches featuring their country’s teams across all age groups and categories. This ban marks a significant setback for the individual, who has been a prominent figure in the sport for over two decades.
