The Davante Adams era in Las Vegas may be coming to an end. After just two seasons with the Raiders, reports suggest the team is open to trading the star wide receiver. As Adams approaches his 32nd birthday, his production has slightly declined, and his contract takes a significant leap next season.
Adams’ current situation raises three pressing questions: how good is he now, how much money is he owed, and what could the Raiders expect in return? Despite some regression, Adams remains a valuable asset, averaging 67.7 receiving yards per game since last season. However, his yards per route run have dropped to 2.0, ranking 35th among wide receivers over the past two seasons.
Regarding his contract, Adams is owed $16.9 million this season, which jumps to $35.7 million next year. None of that money is guaranteed, making a trade or release possible. Any team acquiring Adams would need to consider his contract situation and potential restructure.
As for what the Raiders could expect in return, a second-round pick and additional compensation seem optimistic. A more realistic expectation might be a third-round pick, potentially becoming a second-round pick if Adams remains with his new team into the 2025 campaign.
Several teams could be interested in trading for Adams. The Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Washington Commanders all have varying degrees of need and fit.
The Washington Commanders, in particular, make sense as a potential suitor. They have started 3-1, boast an explosive offense, and have the cap space to accommodate Adams’ contract. Adding him to their receiving corps would provide an instant upgrade and signal a commitment to winning from the franchise.
