**Coastal Club Taps Seasoned Assistant as New Head Coach**
In a move aimed at revitalizing their team, the West Coast Eagles have appointed Andrew McQualter as their new head coach. This decision comes after the club’s long-time coach, Adam Simpson, parted ways with the team earlier this year.
McQualter brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as caretaker coach for Richmond after Damien Hardwick’s departure in 2023. During his 13-game stint, McQualter demonstrated his leadership skills, making him a strong contender for the West Coast Eagles’ top job.
Other notable candidates for the position included Geelong assistant Stephen King and Collingwood assistant Hayden Skipworth. However, McQualter’s impressive track record and familiarity with the league ultimately secured him the coveted role.
As a former player, McQualter has a deep understanding of the game, having played 94 AFL games for St Kilda and Gold Coast between 2005 and 2012. His unique blend of coaching and playing experience makes him an ideal fit for the West Coast Eagles, who are eager to return to their winning ways.
