Two prominent NFL franchises, the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints, are reportedly high on the list of preferred destinations for star wide receiver Davante Adams, should he be traded. Adams, 31, has expressed a desire to play with a familiar quarterback, and both teams boast signal-callers with whom he has a prior connection. The Jets feature Aaron Rodgers, Adams’ former teammate with the Green Bay Packers, while the Saints have Derek Carr, who played with Adams at Fresno State and later with the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to sources, the Raiders are open to trading Adams in exchange for a package including a second-round draft pick and additional compensation. While several teams remain interested in acquiring Adams, the Kansas City Chiefs are not expected to be a contender.
Adams has an impressive NFL résumé, with five Pro Bowl appearances and two first-team All-Pro selections during his eight-year stint with the Packers. He also earned Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro honors in his lone season with the Raiders.
In a recent interview, Adams remained coy about his future with the Raiders, stating, “All I can control is this talk we’re having right here and after we’re done with this, all I can control is the next thing that I’m on to.” Adams’ current salary is $17.5 million, with $13.5 million still owed through the end of the season. His contract jumps to $36.25 million annually in 2025 and 2026, making a restructured deal likely necessary for any trade partner.
The Jets and Saints have varying levels of salary cap space, with $15,350,706 and $3,265,633 available, respectively. Adams has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss games on a week-to-week basis. Despite this, he has still managed 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown through three games this season, adding to his impressive career totals of 890 receptions, 10,990 yards, and 96 touchdowns.
