The Minnesota Wild organization is committed to securing a long-term deal with their star player, Kirill Kaprizov, when he becomes eligible on July 1. This move is crucial, as Kaprizov will enter unrestricted free agency after the 2025-26 season. The 27-year-old Russian phenom has two seasons remaining on his current five-year, $45 million contract.
According to team ownership, Kaprizov will be the top priority in their future plans. “He’s the centerpiece of our strategy moving forward,” they stated. “We’re prepared to offer him a competitive deal, with a focus on proving our commitment to winning.”
The Wild will have increased financial flexibility after this season, thanks to the reduced cap hits of recently bought-out players. This newfound financial freedom will allow the team to pursue top talent and build a strong roster around Kaprizov.
“We’re excited about the opportunities that lie ahead,” ownership expressed. “We’ll have the resources to make significant moves and bring in the right players to help us achieve our goals. While we can’t reveal specific names just yet, we’re confident that we’ll be able to attract top talent to our organization.”
Kaprizov has been a driving force behind the Wild’s success, leading the team in goals and points last season. With 330 points in 278 career games, he has established himself as one of the premier players in the league.
