The Tasmania Titans celebrated their championship title in style, defeating the Melbourne Mavericks 81-72 in a highly anticipated rematch. The electric atmosphere at the MyState Bank Arena in Hobart was palpable as the Titans raised their championship banner before the game, and they played with a sense of purpose throughout the night.
Center Will Flynn was a dominant force, posting 18 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks to lead the Titans’ charge. His physical presence was matched by his defensive prowess, as he shut down the Mavericks’ attack time and again.
Guard Jaxon Hall stepped up with 19 points, including several clutch shots that helped the Titans maintain their lead. His scoring exploits were complemented by the all-around effort of Tyler Martin, who chipped in with 13 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
The Titans jumped out to an early 9-2 lead and never relinquished control, taking a 20-14 advantage into the first quarter break. They extended their lead to 44-33 at halftime and 61-49 by the end of the third quarter.
A 5-0 run to start the fourth quarter put the Titans up by 17 points, and they coasted to a nine-point victory. Reuben Santos added 11 points, including a dagger three-pointer late in the game, to seal the win.
For the Mavericks, Jack Harris top-scored with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Ian Brooks added 13 points. Chris Griffin chipped in with 11 points, despite struggling from beyond the arc. Matthew Flynn had eight points, five assists, and four rebounds in a hard-fought battle with Hall.
