The Indianapolis Colts have suffered another significant blow to their defensive line, placing Tyquan Lewis on injured reserve due to an elbow injury sustained during their recent victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. This marks the third starting defensive lineman to be sidelined since the start of training camp, joining Samson Ebukam, who suffered a torn Achilles, and DeForest Buckner, who is recovering from a high ankle sprain.
Lewis, 29, will be forced to miss at least the next four games, with his earliest possible return slated for Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings on November 3. In four starts this season, Lewis recorded 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Throughout his career, he has accumulated 112 tackles, 15 sacks, 10 passes defensed, and one interception in 69 games.
To bolster their defensive line, the Colts have signed defensive tackle Adam Gotsis to their 53-man roster from the practice squad. Gotsis, 32, made his Colts debut on Sunday, notching one tackle. With 219 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and four fumble recoveries in 122 games, he brings a wealth of experience to the team.
Additionally, the Colts have signed cornerback Kelvin Joseph to their practice squad. Joseph, 24, has previously been a member of the Colts’ practice squad in Weeks 2 and 3. In his career, he has tallied 39 tackles and one fumble recovery in 31 games with the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, and Seattle Seahawks.
