In the midst of a crucial matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, the New Orleans Saints are facing a series of setbacks, with several key players nursing injuries. Wide receiver Chris Olave, who has been instrumental in the team’s offense, is questionable for Sunday’s game due to a hamstring issue.
According to sources, Olave’s status is being closely monitored, and he is being treated as a day-to-day case. The young receiver was added to the injury report on Friday and participated in limited capacity during practice. His injury is believed to have occurred during the latter part of the practice session.
The Saints are already bracing themselves for the absence of linebacker Demario Davis, who will miss his first game due to injury in his 13-year career. Davis, who has been a stalwart for the team, suffered a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
In addition to Davis, the Saints will also be without starting center Erik McCoy, who underwent groin surgery earlier this week, and starting right guard Cesar Ruiz, who is nursing a knee injury. This means the team’s offensive line will undergo a significant overhaul, with only one player from last year’s lineup remaining in the same position.
Running back Alvin Kamara is also questionable, having suffered hip and rib injuries, and was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday. On a positive note, Taysom Hill, who missed last week’s game against the Eagles, has been cleared to play and practiced fully all week.
The Saints’ receiving corps is also depleted, with A.T. Perry out with a hamstring injury and Cedric Wilson Jr. questionable after injuring his ankle earlier in the week. Olave, who leads the team with 178 receiving yards and scored his first touchdown last week, is crucial to the team’s offense, and his absence would be deeply felt. Rashid Shaheed, however, remains healthy and has racked up 169 receiving yards this season.
