In the heart of Tennessee, the Memphis Grizzlies kicked off their training camp with a concerning setback. Star power forward/center Jaren Jackson Jr. was forced to exit the first practice early due to hamstring tightness sustained during a drive to the basket. Coach Taylor Jenkins expressed caution, suggesting that the injury might be a strain.
To determine the severity of the issue, Jackson will undergo imaging on his hamstring. This development comes as a blow to the Grizzlies, who struggled with injuries throughout their 27-55 campaign last season. The team entered camp with two key rotation players already sidelined for extended periods.
Rookie sensation GG Jackson II, who earned a second-team All-Rookie selection last season, underwent surgery on August 30 to repair a broken bone in his right foot. He is expected to miss at least the first two months of the regular season. Meanwhile, wing Vince Williams Jr., a stalwart defender for Memphis, is dealing with a stress reaction in the upper portion of his left tibia. His status will be reevaluated around the start of the regular season.
