**Marathon Mastery in Berlin**
In a stunning display of endurance, Ethiopian athlete Milkesa Mengesha claimed victory at the Berlin Marathon, clocking in at an impressive 2 hours, 3 minutes, and 17 seconds. Although the official time has yet to be confirmed, Mengesha’s performance was undeniably remarkable.
Meanwhile, compatriot Tigist Ketema dominated the women’s division, crossing the finish line in an unofficial time of 2:16:42. The 24-year-old Mengesha demonstrated exceptional strength and agility, outpacing Kenyan competitors Cybrian Kotut and Stephen Kiprop to secure first place. Haymanot Alew of Ethiopia rounded out the top four.
Ideal weather conditions prevailed on this crisp autumn morning in Berlin, with sunshine and a gentle breeze creating a perfect atmosphere for the athletes. Notably, this year’s event marked the first time since 2014 that neither Kenyan sensation Eliud Kipchoge nor Ethiopian great Kenenisa Bekele participated.
A record-breaking 58,212 runners from 161 nations registered for the iconic race, which has seen more world records shattered (13) than any other course. Despite the absence of top stars, who had competed at the Olympics just last month, the Berlin Marathon once again proved itself to be a premier platform for athletic excellence.
