In the desert heat of Las Vegas, the Raiders sought to revive their stagnant running game against the visiting Cleveland Browns. With the worst rushing offense in the league, few expected them to rely on their ground attack to score their first touchdown of the day. But that’s exactly what they did, employing a clever trick play to catch the Browns off guard.
On third-and-goal from the Browns’ 3-yard line, quarterback Gardner Minshew took the snap and handed off to running back Zamir White, who initially ran to his right before pitching the ball to speedy wide receiver Tre Tucker at the 11-yard line. Tucker sprinted to the left pylon, narrowly beating Browns cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. to the end zone for his second touchdown of the season.
The Raiders’ 11-play, 70-yard drive was fueled by nine runs that gained 42 yards, a welcome change of pace for a team that had struggled to move the ball on the ground all season. As the Raiders celebrated their score, the energy in the stadium was palpable, with the crowd sensing a potential turnaround in their team’s fortunes.
