In a significant blow to their defense, the Jaguars have lost their leading tackler for at least a month. Linebacker Foyesade Oluokun was placed on injured reserve due to a foot injury, which he sustained in the second half of Monday’s crushing defeat to the Bills.
Oluokun, who has recorded 22 tackles and three tackles for loss this season, will be sidelined until the team’s Week 8 matchup against the Packers at EverBank Stadium. His absence will be deeply felt, as he has been a crucial component of the Jaguars’ defense.
In addition to Oluokun, nickelback Darnell Savage Jr. will miss his third consecutive game due to a quadriceps injury. Rookie Jarrian Jones, a third-round draft pick, is expected to start in Savage’s place, despite nursing a shoulder injury.
The Jaguars, still seeking their first win of the season, face a tough test on Sunday when they take on the Texans at NRG Stadium. With key players sidelined, the team will need to dig deep to secure a much-needed victory.
