Italian soccer powerhouse regains momentum under new leadership, claiming top spot in Serie A after a convincing 2-0 victory over Monza on Sunday. The team’s resurgence is a welcome change from last season’s disappointing 10th place finish, which saw them miss out on European competition.
Coach Antonio Conte attributes the team’s success to their intense training regimen, made possible by not participating in European tournaments. “While it’s an advantage to have a full week to train, it also means our squad isn’t as battle-tested as those competing in Europe,” Conte explained.
Despite the team’s progress, Conte remains grounded, acknowledging that they still have a long way to go. “We need to put in the hard work and earn every win, just like we did today. We’re not yet where we want to be, but we’re moving in the right direction.”
The team’s tumultuous 2023-24 season saw three different managers at the helm, but Conte’s arrival has brought much-needed stability. The coach is well aware of the high expectations surrounding him, but he’s focused on delivering results rather than getting caught up in hype. “Let the fans dream, but I need to stay focused on the task at hand. We can’t afford to get complacent – we need to keep pushing to get back to where we belong.”
