Rising Star Commits to Queensland Reds for Two More Years
Tim Ryan, the 20-year-old sensation who took the rugby world by storm with his impressive debut season, has signed a two-year extension with the Queensland Reds. The young winger’s explosive start to his career saw him score nine tries in his first seven appearances, earning him a loyal fan base and the nickname “Junkyard Dog.”
Ryan’s versatility was put to the test during the off-season, as he played at outside centre in games against Wales and Tonga. This adaptability will be crucial in a Reds side that has been bolstered by the arrival of Wallabies winger Filipo Daugunu and former Australian rugby sevens star Lachie Anderson.
The increased competition for spots has only fueled Ryan’s determination. “It’s perfect for me,” he said. “I’ll be fighting for a position, and it will make me work harder in pre-season.”
Coach Les Kiss has been impressed by Ryan’s work ethic, saying, “We saw an explosion of talent, didn’t we? It’s really positive to see a winger like him as part of our program.” Kiss praised Ryan’s commitment to his craft, adding, “Every part of his preparation is strong, and he has a great future because of that.”
The Queensland Reds will kick off their new season in February, with a highly anticipated rematch against the Blues on April 25. The 11-team competition will feature 14 regular-season fixtures, followed by a six-team finals series.
