Brazilian National Team Bolsters Attack with New Additions Ahead of Crucial World Cup Qualifiers
In a bid to revitalize their World Cup qualifying campaign, Brazil has announced a revamped squad featuring a mix of familiar faces and fresh talent. The Seleção’s latest roster includes the return of prolific forward Raphinha, who has been in scintillating form for his club, scoring five goals and providing three assists in just seven league appearances.
Raphinha’s inclusion is a welcome boost for Brazil, who have struggled in recent qualifiers, losing four of their last five matches. The team’s coach has also opted to inject some new blood into the attack, calling up uncapped duo Igor Jesus and Luiz Henrique from Botafogo. Jesus, in particular, has caught the coach’s eye, with his impressive performances earning him a spot in the 23-man squad.
The Brazilian attack will also feature the Real Madrid trio of Rodrygo, Vinícius Júnior, and Endrick, who have been regulars in the national team setup. Meanwhile, Palmeiras forward Estevao has been omitted from the squad.
In a surprise move, uncapped Lyon left-back Abner and Monaco right-back Vanderson have been handed their first call-ups to the national team. Brazil currently sits fifth in their World Cup qualifying group, eight points behind leaders Argentina. With crucial matches against Chile and Peru on the horizon, the team will be looking to find a winning formula and regain their confidence.
Brazil’s coach acknowledges the need for improvement, stating, “We need to find a path to return to having a confident team. It’s not a simple and easy process. We need to improve considerably, and I’m working on that.” The team will face Chile in Santiago on October 10, followed by a home match against Peru in Brasilia five days later.
