A former professional soccer player has been ordered to pay a hefty fine for causing damage to his neighbor’s property. The 54-year-old athlete, who had a storied career with a prominent English club, was accused of using a chainsaw to destroy a roof beam in his neighbor’s garage.
Initially, the court imposed a fine of €420,000 for the incident, which occurred in July 2022. However, the athlete appealed the decision and the fine was subsequently reduced to €135,000.
According to the athlete’s lawyer, he has accepted responsibility for his actions and has reached an agreement with his neighbor. The lawyer also confirmed that the athlete has settled another outstanding matter, paying fees he owed for parking at a local airport.
During his playing days, the athlete was a key member of a legendary team that achieved an unprecedented feat, going an entire season without losing a single game. He made over 200 appearances for the club and is still remembered fondly by fans.
