Week 4 of the NFL season saw a plethora of attention-grabbing quotes from players and coaches. From humorous one-liners to blunt honesty, the postgame assessments provided some of the best perspectives on the week’s games.
Atlanta’s quarterback, Kirk Cousins, was thrilled with his team’s divisional win over the New Orleans Saints, securing a 1-0 record in the NFC South. He couldn’t help but notice the electric atmosphere at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, particularly when F.L.Y.’s hit “Swag Surfin’” started playing. “They’re playing that song about the swag, the surf… I was like, ‘This is pretty sweet,’” Cousins said with a smile.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Joe Flacco, 39, proved he still has what it takes, stepping in for injured starter Anthony Richardson. Flacco led the Colts to their second straight victory, throwing for two touchdowns. In a lighthearted moment, he joked about the age gap between him and Richardson, saying, “He told me his mom is 8 days older than I am, so there’s no chance in the world he thinks I’m cool.”
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield found a unique way to cope with the sweltering heat during their game against the Philadelphia Eagles. With temperatures soaring over 90 degrees, Mayfield changed his pants at halftime, helping him stay focused and throw for nearly 350 yards and two scores in their 33-16 win.
Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris praised running back Tyler Allgeier’s impressive performance, saying, “Hot man got in there.” Allgeier paced the Falcons’ ground attack, carrying the ball eight times for 60 yards, with seven of his carries coming in the second half.
Finally, Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans emphasized the importance of every win, no matter how ugly. After a nail-biting victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Ryans said, “There’s no such thing as an ugly win.” The Texans’ late-game heroics secured their win, and Ryans was relieved to get the job done.
