**Mets’ Star Shortstop Sidelined with Back Issues**
As the New York Mets prepare to take on the Atlanta Braves in a crucial three-game series, their star shortstop will be watching from the sidelines. Francisco Lindor has been dealing with a sore back, which has kept him out of the starting lineup for eight consecutive games.
Lindor met with the media prior to Tuesday’s game, sporting a heavy heat wrap on his back. He plans to test his back during pre-game warm-ups to determine if he’s healthy enough to contribute off the bench. A recent bone scan revealed no structural damage, alleviating concerns about further injury.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza is taking a cautious approach, relying on Lindor’s honesty about his condition. “He’s going to be very honest with us,” Mendoza said. “He’s not going to put himself or the team at risk.”
Despite Lindor’s absence, the Mets have thrived, posting a 6-1 record and maintaining a strong grip on the second National League wild-card playoff spot. Rookie Luisangel Acuna has filled the void, batting an impressive.379 with three home runs since his call-up on September 14.
Lindor is willing to return as a designated hitter if needed, but emphasizes the importance of managing his pain. “It’s more important for me that the pain comes and goes,” he explained. “I need to get to the point where I can play without it lingering.”
