**Get Your Shit Together Already**

As I settled into my London hotel room, I was greeted with a familiar question: would I like to forgo daily housekeeping to reduce my environmental footprint? It’s a query I’ve encountered at numerous hotels, always framed as a noble effort to conserve resources. But let’s be real, it’s just a thinly veiled attempt to cut costs.

The couple ahead of me in line eagerly opted out, patting themselves on the back for their supposed eco-friendliness. When it was my turn, the receptionist posed the same question. I countered by asking if housekeeping was included in my room rate. She confirmed it was. So, I pressed on, inquiring if I’d receive a discount for skipping the service. Her response? A resounding “no.”

However, she did offer a consolation prize: two complimentary bottles of wine in exchange for my cooperation. Now we’re talking. I’m not motivated by environmental concerns, but a good wine can sway me. That was until I saw the subpar bottles they were offering. I politely declined the “no-clean” option, deciding instead to indulge in my usual habits – and towels – without apology.
