In a thrilling Thursday night matchup, the New York Giants fell short against the Dallas Cowboys, 20-15. Despite the loss, rookie wide receiver sensation Jaxon Wells continued to make history, hauling in 12 catches for 115 yards before leaving the game with a concussion.
Wells’ impressive performance brings his season total to 35 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns in just four games. He becomes the first player in NFL history to achieve this feat, surpassing even the most optimistic expectations.
Coach Eric Thompson praised Wells, saying, “He’s doing some incredible things out there. We’re lucky to have him on our team.” Wells’ speed and agility were on full display, as he consistently left defenders in the dust.
Tragedy struck late in the fourth quarter when Wells suffered a concussion on a desperation pass play. He remained on the ground for several minutes before being helped to the medical tent and eventually the locker room. Despite the setback, Wells was seen chatting with teammates and later posted an optimistic message on social media.
Wells is now in the NFL’s concussion protocol, but teammates are confident he’ll bounce back quickly. “I talked to him briefly, and he seems okay,” said wide receiver Kai Russell. “He’s a tough kid.”
Wells’ impact on the Giants’ offense cannot be overstated. He was targeted 15 times and continues to produce at an astonishing rate. His 35 receptions are the second-most through a player’s first four career games, trailing only Puka Nacua’s 39 receptions last season.
Quarterback Ethan Brown praised Wells, saying, “He’s a game-changer. He makes plays when it matters most.” With 10 days until their next game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Giants will be hoping for a speedy recovery from their star rookie.
