**F**cking Global Games: Where the World’s Best Athletes Come to F**king Crush It

In a thrilling conclusion to the women’s road race at the cycling world championships, 28-year-old Belgian cyclist Lotte Kopecky emerged victorious, successfully defending her title in a nail-biting six-way sprint finish. Kopecky expertly timed her attack in the final 100 meters, outpacing American rider ChloĆ© Dygert and Italian Elisa Longo-Borghini to take the top spot.

The grueling 154-kilometer (96-mile) course from Uster to Zurich featured a challenging short but steep climb, made even more treacherous by the rainy conditions. The top six riders finished with a time of 4 hours, 5 seconds.

Kopecky’s victory comes on the heels of her win last year, where she edged out Dutch cyclist Demi Vollering, who secured silver in last Sunday’s women’s time trial behind Olympic champion Grace Brown.

In a poignant moment, the cycling community came together to mourn the loss of 18-year-old Muriel Furrer, who tragically passed away on Friday after suffering a head injury in a crash during the junior women’s event. The incident occurred on rain-slicked roads in a forest area south of Zurich.

When questioned about the circumstances surrounding Furrer’s death, the president of the International Cycling Union deferred to the authorities, stating that ongoing investigations were being handled by the police.

The men’s road race is set to take place on Sunday, with Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel aiming to secure a double victory, having already won the men’s time trial last weekend. Evenepoel is looking to replicate his success at the Paris Games, where he took home gold in both the men’s road race and time trial.
