**Injury Concerns for Star Midfielder**
Spanish international and Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, has traveled to Spain to undergo further tests on a right knee injury sustained during a recent Premier League match against Arsenal. The midfielder was spotted arriving in Barcelona on Monday, where he will undergo a series of examinations to determine the extent of the injury.
According to sources, Rodri may require surgery, but there is a glimmer of hope that the cruciate ligament may not be as severely affected as initially feared. If the ligament is indeed damaged, Rodri could be sidelined for up to eight months, while a less severe injury would keep him out of action for around five months.
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, remained tight-lipped about the extent of Rodri’s injury ahead of the team’s Carabao Cup match against Watford, stating only that the midfielder would be out “for a while.” Guardiola added that the club would provide a further update once the medical team had made a definitive diagnosis.
Rodri’s potential absence would be a significant blow to Manchester City’s title hopes, as they seek to win a record-extending fifth consecutive Premier League title. The midfielder is widely regarded as one of the team’s most important players, providing crucial defensive cover and dictating the pace of the game with his exceptional passing ability.
The injury occurred during the 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, when Rodri collided with Arsenal’s Thomas Partey in the box during a corner. The midfielder limped off the field in the 20th minute, sparking concerns about his fitness.
In related news, Rodri recently expressed concerns about the increasing demands placed on top players, suggesting that they may be forced to take drastic action, such as going on strike, if the soccer calendar continues to expand without adequate rest periods for players.
