The New York Football Giants: A Legacy of Underachievement
It’s hard to put into words just how consistently disappointing the Giants have been. They’ve mastered the art of underwhelming their fans, and it’s almost impressive in its own right. Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders have earned a reputation as one of the most unsavory teams in the NFL, exemplified by their recent win against an opponent whose kicker was injured during warm-ups. Winning with seven field goals is a dubious achievement, to say the least.
But back to the Giants. A peculiar theory has been circulating about their downfall, and it centers around their coach’s physical transformation. It’s been observed that coaches who are both overweight and bald tend to fare better in the league. Perhaps there’s some hidden football karma at play? You can’t have it all; either you keep the weight and win games or lose it and lose everything else.
In all seriousness, the Giants are a complete mess. Even when their quarterback doesn’t play like a liability, the team still finds ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Their upcoming schedule is daunting, with games against Dallas, Seattle, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia. It’s not unrealistic to predict a 0-6 start to the season.
However, there’s a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos. If the Giants do indeed start 0-6, they’ll be well-positioned to secure a top-five pick in next year’s draft. This could be their chance to move on from their underperforming quarterback, who has failed to live up to his hefty price tag. While he’s shown flashes of brilliance, he’s proven time and again that he’s not capable of carrying the team to victory.
