**Exciting News for Baseball Fans!**
The Detroit Tigers are making a bold move by promoting their top pitching prospect, Jackson Jobe, to the major leagues. The 22-year-old right-hander will join the team ahead of a crucial series against the Tampa Bay Rays, with just six games left in the regular season.
Jobe has had an impressive season, boasting a 5-3 record and a 2.36 ERA across 21 starts at three different levels in the Tigers’ organization. He made his Triple-A debut on September 14 and pitched nine innings in two starts for Toledo.
The highly-touted prospect was selected third overall in the 2021 MLB draft and is considered one of the top young players in the game. He’ll likely pitch out of the bullpen over the final week of the regular season.
To make room for Jobe, the Tigers will be parting ways with veteran right-hander Shelby Miller, who has a 4.53 ERA in 51 relief appearances this season. Miller has had a long and varied career, playing for nine different clubs over 12 major league seasons.
The Tigers are currently tied with the Kansas City Royals for the American League’s final wild-card spot, thanks to their recent surge of 11 wins in their last 14 games. The Minnesota Twins are lurking just a game back in the AL wild-card standings.
At 82-74, the Tigers have secured their first winning season since 2014, which was also the last time they made the playoffs. With Jobe on board, the team is looking to make a strong push for the postseason.
