The Tampa Bay Rays have made a significant roster move, reinstating versatile player Richie Palacios from the 10-day injured list. Palacios, who last took the field on July 31, was sidelined with a hyperextended right knee. This season, the 27-year-old has been a valuable asset, boasting a.233 batting average, 5 home runs, 21 runs batted in, and 19 stolen bases across 88 games.
Palacios’ flexibility has been a major plus, with double-digit starts at second base (26), right field (25), and left field (15). To make room for his return, the Rays have reassigned infielder Austin Shenton to the spring training complex.
As the season heats up, the Rays are looking to make a push for the playoffs. Currently sitting at 78-78, they trail the New York Yankees by 14 games in the AL East. However, they remain just four games out of the wild-card playoff spots, making every game count from here on out.
