**WE ALL F**KING NEED THIS, PRONTO!**

Insurance: A Necessary Evil in Life

We all need it, but understanding it can be a daunting task. Auto, home, life, and health insurance are essential, yet the process of acquiring them can be overwhelming. Growing up, I had a local insurance agent who made things simple. He was always available, answered my questions, and provided me with the necessary coverage.

As I grew older, got married, and started a family, my wife and I opted for the cheapest insurance options, frequently switching providers when rates increased. Recently, we received a notification from our current insurer about a rate hike, prompting us to shop around again. The increase was staggering, likely due to the costly TV commercials.

I decided to get quotes from two prominent insurance companies. One has an emu mascot, while the other features a duo that doesn’t resonate with me. The third company boasts an animated gecko with a charming Cockney accent, which I find quite endearing. However, mascots shouldn’t be the deciding factor in choosing an insurance provider.

I attempted to get quotes online but eventually had to call the companies due to unanswered questions. The phone calls were grueling, but I persisted. Both companies were willing to work with me, and I qualified for a bundle discount with each. After careful consideration, I chose one provider over the other.

The agent I spoke with was thorough, but our conversation was hindered by a few obstacles. She couldn’t provide a bundle discount initially, and later, she failed to return my calls. I was at my wit’s end, feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer.

I eventually canceled my application and received a full refund after a 12-day wait. I then contacted the second insurance company and had a seamless experience with an agent who was knowledgeable and efficient. We finalized the policy in under 35 minutes.

While no one can replace my trusted childhood insurance agent, my new agent may earn a special place in my insurance history. Perhaps choosing an insurance company is, in part, about the mascots. My favorite remains the charming gecko with a Cockney accent. Next time, I might just pick my favorite mascot and save myself the hassle. Ultimately, insurance is a necessary part of life, and we must navigate its complexities to find the right provider for our needs.
