**Raiders Stick with Minshew as Starting Quarterback**
HENDERSON, Nev. — Despite a strong performance by backup Aidan O’Connell, Gardner Minshew will retain his starting quarterback role for the Las Vegas Raiders’ upcoming home game against the Cleveland Browns, according to a team insider.
The decision comes after Raiders coach Antonio Pierce refused to commit to Minshew as the starter during Monday’s press conference, sparking speculation about a potential quarterback change. However, the team has opted to stick with Minshew, who has led the Raiders to a respectable start this season.
Minshew has completed an impressive 73.7% of his passes, ranking fifth in the NFL among quarterbacks with at least 70 attempts. He has thrown for 747 yards, with three touchdowns and three interceptions, earning a passer rating of 92.4.
In Sunday’s 36-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Minshew threw for 214 yards and completed 18 of 28 passes, including a touchdown and an interception. O’Connell, who replaced Minshew in the fourth quarter, led the team on a 70-yard scoring drive, completing 9 of 12 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.
The Raiders also made a roster move on Tuesday, placing starting safety Marcus Epps on injured reserve due to a noncontact knee injury suffered during Sunday’s game. Cornerback Sam Webb was signed to the active roster from the practice squad to fill the vacant spot.
