The recent injury to Tua Tagovailoa has left the Miami Dolphins searching for a new quarterback. With Skylar Thompson currently leading the team, it’s clear that they need a more reliable option. The current list of available free agent quarterbacks is underwhelming, featuring names like Trevor Siemian, Kellen Mond, and Max Duggan.
In light of this, I’ve compiled a list of alternative quarterbacks who could potentially fill the void. While some of these options may be longshots, they’re certainly more intriguing than the current crop of free agents.
Tom Brady, although unlikely, could be a possibility if the Dolphins can secure a playoff spot. His experience and leadership would be invaluable in a postseason run.
Ryan Tannehill, a former Dolphin, is a more realistic option. He’s currently a free agent and has the skills to lead the team to victory. It’s surprising that the Dolphins haven’t already reached out to him.
Other options include Teddy Bridgewater, who’s currently coaching high school football but could be lured back to the NFL. Nathan Rourke, a CFL quarterback, could bring a fresh perspective to the team. Joe Flacco, although 39, has experience and could provide a spark. Jimmy Garoppolo, with his impressive 57-24 record, could be a viable option.
Chad Kelly, despite his checkered past, has shown promise in the CFL and could be worth a shot. Robert Griffin III, although a longshot, still considers himself a viable quarterback. Johnny Manziel, floating around Miami, could be signed for a low cost and might have some magic left.
Jameis Winston, although unlikely to be traded, would be an exciting addition to the team. Zach Wilson, playing in the same division as the Jets, would add an extra layer of intrigue to the season. And finally, Colin Kaepernick, the GOAT of “maybe they should sign him” jokes, could bring a unique perspective to the team.
