This season has reached a dead end. The writing is on the wall – this team is plagued by misfortune and underperforming. It’s not about who takes the reins as backup quarterback; the harsh reality is that this team crumbles without their star player calling the shots. The recent addition of a new quarterback won’t magically turn things around. It’ll take them months to grasp the complex playbook, and even then, they’ll struggle to lead the offense with precision. It’s a monumental task for any quarterback to seamlessly adapt to the intricate system. Even a legendary quarterback would need significant time to get up to speed.
I have immense respect for our starting quarterback – they’re a talented player and a great person – but how long can we continue down this path? How many times must we witness our quarterback lying injured on the field, only to be sidelined for weeks with yet another serious head injury? This marks the second time in just three years that our top quarterback will miss at least a quarter of the season. The brutal truth is that you can’t contend for a championship when your quarterback’s availability is always in question.
I’m exhausted from searching for backup solutions, only to be left disappointed. I’ve seen this same scenario unfold before, and I desperately hope I’m mistaken, but all signs point to this season being a lost cause.
