**ROOKIE SEASON GOES UP IN FLAMES: Julian Aguiar Hits IL, Done for the Year**

**Rookie Pitcher’s Season Cut Short Due to Injury**

The Cincinnati Reds have made several roster moves, including placing young right-hander Julian Aguiar on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow sprain, effectively ending his season. The move was made retroactive to Saturday.

In other transactions, the Reds activated veteran right-hander Ian Gibaut from the 60-day injured list and outrighted right-hander Alan Busenitz to Triple-A Louisville. Busenitz had been designated for assignment on Sunday.

Aguiar, 23, suffered the injury in his last outing on Thursday, allowing seven runs and six hits in four innings against the Atlanta Braves. He finishes the season with a 2-1 record and a 6.25 ERA in 31 2/3 innings over seven starts. The Reds selected him in the 12th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, and he made his major league debut on August 19.

Gibaut, 30, has been sidelined since the start of the season due to a right forearm strain and a subsequent right calf strain. He underwent surgery in May to relieve compression on a nerve in his forearm. In his career, Gibaut has a 10-8 record with four saves and a 4.10 ERA in 145 innings over 135 relief appearances.

Busenitz, 34, appeared in three relief outings for the Reds this season, posting a 0-0 record and a 13.50 ERA in four innings. He has a career record of 5-2 with a 4.90 ERA in 68 innings over 60 relief appearances.
