In a stunning display of golfing prowess, Lydia Ko claimed her third LPGA Tour title of the season with a dominating performance at the Kroger Queen City Championship. The 27-year-old New Zealander carded a 9-under 63 in the final round to overcome a two-shot deficit and secure a five-shot victory over Jeeno Thitikul.
Ko’s remarkable summer run has seen her win three times in her last four starts, including an Olympic gold medal and a major victory at the Women’s British Open at St. Andrews. Her latest triumph marks her 22nd career LPGA win and cements her position as one of the most dominant players in women’s golf.
Thitikul, who led by two shots after eight holes of the final round, struggled to keep pace with Ko’s blistering form. The Thai golfer made bogey on the par-4 ninth, while Ko birdied the 10th hole to tie for the lead. Ko then pulled ahead with a 12-foot eagle putt on the par-5 11th, and Thitikul’s challenge faltered with bogeys on the 13th and 15th holes.
“It’s been an incredible few months,” Ko said after her victory. “I’ve been fortunate to have had some amazing results, and to cap it off with a round like this is really special.”
Ko’s win has taken her to new heights, with her sights now set on reaching 30 career titles worldwide. She will have the opportunity to achieve this feat at the Hana Financial Group Championship in South Korea next week.
