The City That Never Sleeps is already stirring up controversy, and we’re only one game into the season. It’s a familiar feeling, like déjà vu. One of the few players who doesn’t deserve the wrath of the fans, Dexter Lawrence, had some choice words:
A rough patch isn’t a prolonged period of underperformance; it’s a brief slump. And it’s not about a few misplays, but rather an entire game where the team looks utterly defeated. The buck stops with the quarterback, and unfortunately, he’s just not cutting it. It’s not about confidence or coaching; it’s a matter of raw talent.
You can’t fault the front office for exploring other options, given the current state of affairs. The contract extension was a questionable move, but it doesn’t change the fact that the quarterback is struggling.
So, no, you can’t blame the fans for voicing their discontent. This is professional football, after all. If it weren’t for a few other struggling teams, we’d be the laughingstock of the league. The team’s performance was lackluster, and it’s hard to argue with the boos. Give us a team with heart, like the Replacements, any day. This team needs a serious overhaul. Don’t point fingers at the fans for expressing their frustration.
