The Lone Star State’s finest made a resounding statement in the heart of the Midwest, dominating the Wolverines in a performance that left no doubt about their national title aspirations. Michigan, on the other hand, looked woefully unprepared, reminiscent of their lackluster showing against the Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff just a few seasons ago.
While some of the credit must go to the Wolverines’ underwhelming display, the Longhorns’ impressive showing cannot be overstated. They didn’t rely on flashy plays or lucky breaks; instead, they methodically marched down the field, scoring at will and stifling their opponents’ offense.
One can only wonder what the final score would have looked like if the Longhorns’ coach had opted to unleash his star receiver, Isaiah Bond, on the Wolverines’ defense all day. As it stands, the Longhorns’ convincing victory serves as a stark reminder of their championship mettle.
Meanwhile, Michigan’s struggles are a cause for concern. Replacing key players from last year’s title-winning squad will be no easy feat, and quarterback Davis Warren may not be the answer to their prayers. With daunting matchups against Ohio State, USC, and Oregon still on the horizon, the Wolverines have their work cut out for them.
For Texas, however, this triumph marks a significant milestone. Coach Sarkisian’s squad is a force to be reckoned with, and they’ll be a major player in the national championship conversation come season’s end.
