**Mississippi State QB Sidelined for Season Due to Shoulder Injury**
In a devastating blow to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, their starting quarterback will be out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a shoulder injury during Saturday’s 45-28 defeat to the Florida Gators. The senior quarterback, who transferred from Baylor, was forced to leave the game in the fourth quarter after a fumble near the Florida goal line.
Despite his limited playing time, the quarterback still managed to rack up an impressive 140 passing yards and a touchdown, bringing his season total to 974 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception. He completed an impressive 68.5% of his passes throughout the season.
The news has sent shockwaves through the Mississippi State camp, with first-year coach Jeff Lebby expressing his sympathy for the injured player. “We’re all feeling for our quarterback after this tough break,” Lebby said. “He’s an ultimate competitor and teammate, and his leadership will be deeply missed. We’ll support him every step of the way during his recovery and explore all options to help him regain his lost year of eligibility.”
Freshman Michael Van Buren Jr. stepped in to replace the injured quarterback, completing 7 of 13 passes for 100 yards against the Gators. The injured quarterback has a rich history of starting games, having done so in each of the past three seasons for Baylor, where he accumulated 2,709 passing yards and 18 touchdowns in 2022. He made the move to Mississippi State in December.
