**HOLY SH*T, THE WHITE SOX SUCK! 119 LOSSES AND COUNTING**

In a thrilling matchup, the San Diego Padres edged out the Chicago White Sox 6-2, bringing them closer to securing a playoff spot. The White Sox, on the other hand, tied the American League record for most losses in a season with 119, matching the 2003 Detroit Tigers’ dismal record.

The Padres’ Xander Bogaerts and Elias Diaz both hit two-run homers, with Bogaerts’ shot coming in the second inning and giving his team a 2-0 lead. David Peralta also homered for San Diego, which maintained its two-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks for the top National League wild-card spot.

The White Sox, who have lost 20 straight road series, were led by Lenyn Sosa’s RBI single in the sixth inning. However, their struggles continued, with Chris Flexen remaining winless in his past 23 starts.

Despite their struggles, the White Sox showed signs of life, with manager Grady Sizemore praising their efforts. “They’ve been playing some good baseball these last couple of days,” said Padres’ Bogaerts. “Obviously, we want to win every game by a big margin, but these guys are putting up a fight.”

The Padres’ Martin Perez pitched 5⅓ strong innings, striking out six and walking three, while Tanner Scott recorded five outs for his 22nd save. With the win, San Diego reduced its magic number to two for clinching its second playoff berth in three seasons.

As the White Sox look to avoid making history with the most losses in a season, they’ll face off against the Padres again on Sunday, with right-hander Sean Burke taking the mound against San Diego’s Yu Darvish.
