**Roma CEO Departs Amid Fan Backlash Over Coaching Change**
In a sudden move, the chief executive of Italian football club Roma has resigned, effective immediately. The decision comes on the heels of widespread fan discontent following the dismissal of beloved manager Daniele De Rossi last week.
The club expressed gratitude to the outgoing executive, acknowledging her dedication during a tumultuous period. “We appreciate her tireless efforts and wish her all the best in her future pursuits,” the club stated on its official website.
Local media outlets reported that law enforcement had been evaluating the need for enhanced security measures for the departing executive, citing a threatening message displayed at the team’s training facility.
The executive, a seasoned sports lawyer, faced intense scrutiny from fans over the removal of De Rossi, a Roma legend who had taken the reins as head coach in January. The team’s winless start to the season sparked outrage among supporters, who saw De Rossi’s departure as a misstep.
Roma’s new manager, Ivan Juric, formerly of Torino, led the team to a much-needed 3-0 victory over Udinese on Sunday, marking the club’s first win of the Serie A season. The outgoing executive had been appointed by the club’s American owners, the Friedkin family, in April 2023, bringing with her experience as CEO of Greek club Olympiacos.
